Well she finally got to sleep last night and then had two cry-outs that just required some reassurance and then she slept through the night. We got up at 7 for a feeding, us a shower and then breakfast downstairs. We were to be packed and ready to go at 9am.
We did it! All packed and everything. It took two taxis!!! Because their taxis have propane tanks in the their trunk, not all our stuff fit in one with us in it too!! We went to the building .. not sure what it was called.. but anyway Michelle ran in and got Robyn's Chinese passport. It's pretty cool actually.. Ya see she's not a US Citizen until we land in Newark next Saturday. So some of the paperwork we are doing in Guangzhou is her US Visa.
So after we blocked traffic in a alley. Cracks me up these taxi drivers just parked where ever! We drove out to the airport and after a bit of a mixup with no ticket for Robyn we were through security. We were directed to the VIP line, and I was like.. are we a VIP? And Michelle says,, well no but I guess it's cause you have the baby they are having me send you that way. Well hey, I finally get those "I have a kid" perk!! I had brought water with me, oops didn't realize the same rule applied here and they questioned all the freakin medicine I had. Tee hee.
We were REALLY early so we fed Robyn some applesauce stuff and hung out. We boarded at 1-115 for our scheduled 1:35pm flight on Hainan Airlines to Guangzhou. We sat in the plane till 2:15, she slept for abit.. then woke up and it was tag team fun the whole flight. She didn't like being stuck in our seats. We had a lap ticket (only 2.5hr flight) and she kept pitchin a fuss. And we had to keep handing her from one person to the other. We were trying real hard to not be those people with the crying baby on a plane!!! So.. it seems we need to figure something out before our big flight next Sat or it's gonna be a LOOONG flight. Oh and there was more turbulance on this flight than I can remember ever having! Except that one to Philly, remember that one Mom?!?! anyway....
One thing we REALLY like about Chinese airports are mini carts that are avail to use to haul your stuff around the terminal!! Besides the great luggage carts once you get to baggage claim.
Grace was there waiting for us.. all our stuff made.. a bit soggy, but made it. It's pouring here, we landed in the rain and it's been raining all day! It's weather from tropical storm Lionrock. Nifty name! It's nice to see rain again, I missed it. And we hope that it cleans up some of the pollution for us, for at least a few days. My sinuses are awful… so stuffed especially on the right side. Ug…
So here we are at the White Swan. I feel much more comfortable here. Our guide is GREAT and we are now waiting on Room Service because it is raining out and well the baby is sleeping! Seems to be lots of great places to eat at near by. A French restaurant!! Gotta try that among some other Chinese, Thai, all sorts of stuff. Should be some good food this week.. YEY!! And.. and… the ice at the hotel here is safe to drink!!! Oh man I miss being able to have a nice glass of ice water.. ahhh.. or a coke with ice. It's the little things you take for granted sometimes.
Well we get to meet another family tomorrow. Grace said they have adopted a little girl who is missing part of her leg, she is only 10months old. I know Robyn will be excited to see her. She loves watching other kids and must miss the other kids at the orphanage. We have some paperwork to get going in the morning to start getting Robyn's US travel Visa. Then we have a free day. We need to get laundry done, we are down to our last items. If it's not raining we'll go swimming in the pool.. and hang out at the resort some. Seems that there is a 7-11 across the street.. so we'll get some sodas and stuff like that. Well.. room service should be here soon.. it's 10:30pm on Friday 9/3. One week and a day and we go home.. Can't wait to get her home!!!!
