Early Happy New Year!!!

Chinese New Year that is...the year of the Tiger. grrr.. Hopefully this will be the year we travel to China. I'm feeling it. Can't explain it but something tells me this will be the year we go.

Update...

Well 9 months ago today I was called up to MO5 at the Magic Kingdom and told I was being let go as part of the company wide labor reduction. bummer...And I'm still looking for a job. It's been tough. Only ONE interview and I think that was because I knew someone in the company. I keep trudging along and hope something comes along soon. Thank you Pres. Obama for extending the unemployment benefits. That has helped. In the meantime I've been doing a lot for our church and lots of household chores that tend to get put aside.. ya know the icky ones. Cleaning out closets, under sinks.. dusting stuff way up on shelves and stuff like that. House does look good! It gives us time to do things on the weekend instead of cleaning!

We started a vegetable garden. This may seem early to your northerners but here in Central Florida we start planting cool season crops now and get the warm ones going via seed.

Here's a couple of pictures. Even made a bean trellis!!! how about that! That sad looking vine thing against the house is our bouganvilla. It got hit hard from that FREAKISHLY cold weather we had at the beginning of January. Don't worry, it'll come back. Last year it did the same thing and came back looking great!
Tonight I will need to cover the herbs, tomatoes and peppers. It's gonna get in the lower 30's. We just put old Christmas lights around them then throw a sheet over. Works great!
Also we are going to renovate our bathroom, ourselves. Originally we were gonna hire someone but this will save us a couple grand. We are going to use some of his inheritance from his mom's estate. If anything you always get that money back when selling your home. So this will be money well spent/invested. To save $$ we are going to buy a cabinet "off the shelf" rather than having it special made, as well as the counter top. Our wonderful neighbor has offered to help us with the tiling. We need to rip out all the old tile and redo the shower. It's gonna be a lot of work, but I think it'll be fun too! First step is to install a new Exhaust fan. We want to put one in that shoots the air outside. That'll ventilate that room a whole lot better!
I'm gonna try and post more often. I'll put pics of the garden as everything grows and document the bathroom transformation!
Fun!
Zai Jian,
~Donna
